I’M NOT PERFECT BUT I’M SOMETHING

''I'm Not Perfect But I'm Something'' is based on a collaborative concept by Rob, Haley, and Laurel Kulow.  ''I'm Not Perfect But I'm Something'' is a slice of life show that looks at love from the perspective of four relationships: one in its beginning stage; another when a solid commitment may be made; a third when trouble comes from self-inflicted wounds; and a final one under stress because of misfortune.

the PLOT

Walter is tending bar in the bar/dance/dining room of an upscale restaurant.  He's also serving as waiter tonight because a bachelor party is in full swing in the adjacent dining room, changing the normal staffing.  Heather, who usually comes in with her crew on Friday nights, has been interested in Walter for a while.  Despite attempts by Liz, a waitress, to get Walter interested in her, Walter and Heather move closer to starting a romance.  Walter tries to talk to Heather and avoid Liz as three couples come in:

Charlie and Mike, who are filling time until they receive a text message telling them the results of follow up tests after an operation to remove an ependymoma from Charlie's brain;

Keith and Jodi, who are having a "conversation" about his ignoring her during their marriage and her betraying his trust; and

Duncan and Crystal, who live together.  The restaurant is out of their normal price range, causing Crystal to wonder why they are there.

As their situations unfold and the party in the next room gets rowdier, Walter keeps the focus shifting from table to table to bar.   An episode of sexual harassment occurs, triggering an incident that puts the characters' lives in danger.  ''I'm Not Perfect But I'm Something'' provides a musical snapshot of trying to love in these precarious times.

''I'm Not Perfect But I'm Something'' has only one set and a cast of ten people (5M, 5F, late 20s-early 40s).  Eight sing (4M, 4F).  There are sixteen songs in the show plus parts of another are played over the sound system.
